As areas continue to stabilize from the pandemic, organizations and businesses will also continue to reopen in phases. In the next couple months, colleges and universities will begin to reopen for the new semester. No doubt, faculty, staff as well as students will feel anxious about leaving the safety net of their homes and will surely have concerns about what measures are being taken to keep them safe. Ultimately, they are putting their lives in your hands as they go back to class. And as an educational campus, you have many different buildings that cater to them. That can be a bit intimidating right? Well here are a few tips to help get your campus facilities prepared for the new semester.

Consider UVC Light Disinfection – UVC Light for educational campuses allows you to utilize all the benefits of germicidal lighting in limited space applications such as PTACs and Fan Coil Units. The installation features a low-profile lamp with a metal shield and mounting magnet providing optimum exposure in tight spaces. The benefits are numerous including reduction of bacteria, viruses, mold and odors in settings such as dorms, cafeterias, libraries, REC rooms and other university or college facilities. The best UVC Light Disinfection Systems for these facilities include:

Dorms:

  • SterilWand
  • UVC Light for Ice Machines
  • UVC Light for PTAC Units

Cafeterias:

  • Ceiling / Wall Mountable UVC System
  • UVC Light for Ice Machines

Libraries:

  • UVC Light for HVAC Systems
  • SterilWand

REC Rooms:

  • Ceiling / Wall Mountable UVC System
  • Mobile Remote UVC System

Restrooms:

  • Mobile Remote UVC System
  • Ceiling Wall Mountable Units

Create a Deep Cleaning Plan – Using a combination of hand wiping and/or an electrostatic sprayer to apply a disinfectant/solution that is EPA registered will also help fight against the cause of COVID-19 on surfaces. Make sure to target high touch surfaces, such as, light switches, doors and door knobs, desks and chairs, water fountains, and any common areas that get a high volume of traffic. You can also, verify certain areas of your facility are clean with COVID-19 hard surface testing. A member of our environmental team can swab high-touch areas around your facility that could be potentially infected with the virus. This test can detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19 or coronavirus) on surfaces based on the CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel protocol. Turnaround time for results are 24-48 hours from receipt in the laboratory.

Communication – Communication is key! You are working hard to ensure that your campus is prepared for your faculty, staff and students. Providing them with the information and steps your campus has taken to help prevent the spread can help ease their mind. Also, providing information and tips on how to prevent the spread of infection is important to the health and safety of everyone on campus. Some ideas to help keep your campus informed include:

  • Webinars
  • eLearning content
  • Tips to ease anxiety
  • Posting FAQ guides all over campus with protocols for social distancing
  • Training on respiratory etiquette
