Comparing Apples to Apples in the Fire Damper Inspection Industry

Damper Inspection

It seems more and more companies are popping up on the Internet claiming to be Fire Damper Inspection  specialists. My advice to those that are looking to contract with a company for damper inspection services is to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.  Here are a few things to make sure you ask your Fire Damper Inspection contractor:

What type of Experience do they have? LSS Life Safety Services has performed thousands of projects throughout the United States and Canada. Ranging from projects for Fortune 500 companies, Colleges and Universities, Hotels and High-Rises and over 2,000 health care facilities

Do they have a Quality Control Program in place? LSS maintains our high quality standards through a QC Program that utilizes surprise random QC inspections by LSS QC Manager.

Do they provide digitial documentation? Photos taken of devices before and after they are inspected ensures the inspection was actually done, AHJ’s an easy way to verify that the work was completed and reduces customer liability should an actual fire take place. LSS has an industry leading reporting process that is unmatched in the industry.

What type of training has the staff completed? Our manufacturers and OSHA training for the service technicians helps to reduce on the job injuries and ensure that work is completed ina  timely fashion. LSS Technicians are put through background checks and drug screening, infection control training, confined space training, customer skills training, manufacturers training and NFPA code training just to name a few.  Additionally, some of the top fire safety product manufacturers provide our service technicians with the industry training courses and certifications.

What do they know about the code? LSS’ knowledge of NFPA 80, NFPA 101 and NFPA 105 and all codes relating to passive fire protection is unmatched. It’s all we do, so we serve as your conmduit for updates and prop0sed changes to codes so you are never caught off guard.

These are of course just a few things into when hiring a fire damper inspection company. Our advice? Be sure to ask lots of questions and don’t settle – lives are a stake when it comes to passive fire protection.
