LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 12, 2010) – Life Safety Services (LSS), the National leader in fire and smoke damper inspection services and repair, announced today that they will expand their service offerings to include the annual inspection of Fire Doors.
“Fire-rated doors are an important part of a building’s passive fire-protection system,” said Jack Merideth, Vice President of Production for Life Safety Services. “There are very stringent guidelines enforced by the National Fire Protection Association that has led Facility Managers and Engineers to seek qualified contractors to perform these inspections. Fire Doors are complicated – there are a lot of components that can fail which will ultimately compromise a building’s Fire Protection System. Fire Door inspections are required by NFPA Code, specifically NFPA 101 and NFPA 80 which encompasses eleven major inspection points. As with Fire and Smoke Damper Inspections, the NFPA also requires written documentation that the Fire Door Inspections have been completed and the report is to be made available to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) on demand.
